Terms
A clear agreement for a personal shelf.
These terms cover the hosted Taste Shelf service, your account and content, acceptable use, WebMCP, and service availability.
Effective and last updated September 3, 2026
1. Accepting these terms
By creating an account or using the hosted Taste Shelf service, you agree to these Terms of Service and the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service. A separately operated fork of the open-source code is governed by its operator's terms, not these terms.
2. Accounts and eligibility
You must provide accurate account information, use an account you are authorized to use, and keep access to it secure. You are responsible for activity performed through your authenticated session. You must be at least 13, or the higher minimum age required by local law to use an online service without parental consent.
3. Your content
You retain your rights in the ratings, notes, reactions, canvases, images, shortlists, collections, diary entries, theories, imported records, and other content you submit. You give Taste Shelf a limited permission to host, copy, process, and display that content only as needed to operate, secure, and maintain the service and carry out actions you request.
You must have the rights needed to submit your content, including cover images and public URLs. Do not upload unlawful content or information that violates another person's privacy, copyright, trademark, or other rights.
4. WebMCP and agent actions
WebMCP lets a compatible AI you choose read or change the same authenticated shelf state used by the manual interface. You are responsible for reviewing requests and results before relying on them. Taste Shelf may require clarification, reject invalid or stale writes, limit requests, or require human approval for sensitive state such as a proposed preference, memory patch, or theory. AI access settings are controls within Taste Shelf; they do not replace the terms or privacy controls of the AI provider you choose.
The AI provider is a separate third party. Its service, output, data handling, and availability are governed by its own terms. Taste Shelf does not guarantee the accuracy of an AI-generated summary, recommendation, inference, or edit.
5. Acceptable use
You may not use Taste Shelf to:
- Break the law or infringe another person's rights.
- Access, probe, or change another user's account or data.
- Bypass authentication, quotas, origin checks, or security controls.
- Upload malware, disrupt the service, automate abusive traffic, or consume unreasonable resources.
- Misrepresent your identity or authorization.
6. Availability and limits
Taste Shelf is an independent project. Features may change, and the service may be interrupted, limited, or discontinued. Account and shared quotas protect the hosted service and may reject requests until a limit resets. Keep an export of content you cannot afford to lose.
Third-party services such as Cloudflare, an identity provider, or an AI provider can also affect availability. Taste Shelf is not responsible for third-party services or content reached through public links.
7. Suspension and deletion
Access may be limited or suspended when reasonably necessary to protect the service, users, or others, or when these terms are materially violated. You may remove shelf data, export it, or permanently delete your Taste Shelf account from Settings. Account deletion does not delete an account held by a connected third party.
8. Disclaimers and liability
To the extent permitted by law, the hosted service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of uninterrupted operation, error-free output, fitness for a particular purpose, or preservation of every record. Taste Shelf is not professional, medical, legal, or financial advice.
To the extent permitted by law, the project owner will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost data, profits, or opportunities arising from use of the service. Rights that cannot lawfully be excluded remain unaffected.
9. Open-source code
The source code is licensed separately under the MIT License. Bundled artwork, fonts, names, and other assets may have separate notices. The source-code license does not create a right to operate the hosted service, use another person's account, or claim endorsement by the project owner.
10. Changes and contact
These terms may be updated as the service changes. The current version and effective date will remain on this page. If a change materially affects your use, stop using the service if you do not agree.
For questions, contact the project owner through the public repository or the Devpost project page linked to this deployment.
